Artist Statement
I think one of the greatest inventions ever to be created is the camera. It captures memories that will never be forgotten and can be passed down. All of the photographs I have taken were taken under the intension that my future loved ones will see them someday and can tell what I think is important to me. I would characterize my images as calming and are of something that mean something to me. One photographer that I have thought a lot about is Gabriel Isak. His work is melancholic and his subjects are usually people that make the pictures symbolic. I like how he uses photography to create a whole meaning that is so surreal. This semester, a big thing I learned is that to get a good, quality photo, you have to be at the right place at the right time. In some cases, the photographer is in no control of the environment and is merely there to capture a single moment that they decide is worthy.
