Artist Statement
When observing my images as a unit, they all appear to have high contrast, and emphasis. Especially in the black and white photos, the dark and light parts are very different. The images that do contain color also contrast against each subject. My photos involving nature and animals appear to be my strongest images. One photographer I have often thought a lot about is Paul Nicklen. To me his photos are so inspirational mostly because the locations he takes them tend to have very rough conditions. I also admire him for the level of patience that is evident in his photos when he composes them. Nature photographers cannot control how animals act, and he seems to capture them at the perfect time. One thing that stood out to me this semester is that I did not know much about my digital camera. I have only had this camera for two years, but I did not know how much I could do with it. Now I feel like I know my camera better and know how to better equip myself for taking photos. I also have never been taught about the ISO on my camera. I feel as if I understand it a lot more and it is easier for me to control my camera now.
