Artist Statement
In my portfolio, the most consistent aspect is how my photos were often taken outdoors. In photoshop I can remember editing my photos so that they had an extra vibrancy to colors/ deeper contrast to tones (for those pictures that are black and white). A photographer that I actually discovered outside of class is Ansel Adams. I found his methods for creating depth and contrast in his landscapes to be inspiring. I hope that in future portfolios I will be able to focus on more nature/ landscape photography. Two things that stood out to me this semester was the night shoot and the in-class studio shoot. I really liked the results of the night shoot because I had to be more patient to find the right exposure, aperture, and ISO settings. I liked the in-studio shoot that we did in class because it helped me learn how powerful light and angles and different settings affect all elements of a photo: quality, emotions, lighting, etc.
